Moi Style Icon- Isabel Preysler, a True Fashionista!

While many of my American girlfriends who love fashion grew up admiring style icons like Audrey Hepburn, I grew up adoring one of Spain’s most beautiful faces- Isabel Preysler. Many of you are pretty familiar with Enrique Iglesias‘ name, and maybe even his father, Julio Iglesias- a famous Spanish musician . But, here in the US, we never hear too much about his mom, María Isabel Preysler Arrastía (better known as Isabel Preysler).

I always find it amusing at how shocked people get when I tell them Enrique Iglesias is half Filipino. Si senor! Isabel Preysler was a Filipina model who was born in Manila. She moved to Spain to pursue her education and modeling career, which later also turned into journalism, and TV personality. She then became one of the most watched faces in Spain’s high society when she married Julio Iglesias (her first interview at Hola! magazine). And from then on, she became one of Spain’s biggest Fashion Icon.

Isabel  and Julio  had three children, Julio Iglesias Jr., Chabeli Iglesias and Enrique Iglesias. And after her split from Iglesias, she immersed herself into Spain’s TOP political society and married the Marques de Griñón, Carlos Falcó, who she had her fourth daughter with, Tamara Falcó. Unfortunately, that didn’t last and they divorced after a brief marriage. She later married,  former Spanish finance minister, Miguel Boyer, with whom she has her last daughter, Ana Boyer.

Being of  Filipino/ Spanish and Chinese descent,  born and raised in Spain, you can imagine how obsessed I was with her and Chabeli (her first daughter). I was never a fan of the boys, obviously because I was young. But I used to always watch her and Chabeli grace the covers of Hola!

Although the magazine was not really guided towards kids, I would always buy it at the super mercado (super market) across the street from my house any time I saw her or any Iglesias on the cover. I remember it like it was just yesterday. I would sit outside with my friends, flipping fast through every page to get to hers, just so I could admire her beauty, lifestyle and her clothing.

There was something so intriguing and mesmerizing about her.  Then, I would sit there day dreaming,  wondering what would be like to be that gorgeous, elegant, powerful and classy, while also gracing the covers of Spanish revista as a Filipina.

Isabel Preysler, is just a stunning beauty and today she still looks amazing. Now, rather than day-dream about those things, I pray that one day I can  look as good as she does. Till this day, I continue to be fascinated with her beauty, elegance, and grace she carries. These photos say it all. Don’t you agree?

At present time, she is the national spokesperson for Porcelanosa,  Suárez jewelry, Manolo Blahnik shoes, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, and Chrysler cars in Spain.

She is also the first Filipina to receive the Women Together Award, an honor given to women for their philanthropical contributions to the United Nations in New York along with Hillary Clinton, Shakira and Yoko Ono. She remains one of Spain’s favorite beauties and is known as the “Reina de los Corazones” (queen of hearts).

She has definitely passed downthose beautiful genes! Everyone of her children are gorgeous, especially Enrique. Of course!

And, he is even yummier now, that I got to meet him personally at the Universal Music party in Miami. He was as graceful as his mother, and super nice! Check out my pic below. Taken with a phone cam so is not great, but something!
