Memorial Moda- Part Deux, A La ‘SoBe’

During memorial day, most locals tend to steer away from the hot Miami Beach sun, and it’s not the preferred destination for many since it tends to get very, very, very packed… But, if this is one destination  you’ll be traveling to this memorial weekend, here are some spots and essentials you’ll definitely need to hit.  Miami is like a second home. I love it and spend quite a bit of time there.

If you are in a budget, but still want to enjoy the bliss of a luxurious and posh weekend, the Mondrian is the perfect little boutique hotel to go for. Lovely personnel, very art deco and stylish, funky and large size suites with a kitchen! Really?! Nuff said. SOLD! You can’t get that at many places. Other options are Delano, Shore Club and Fontainebleau. You can’t go wrong with any of those.

Miami is full of restaurants, shops and night life.  It’s one of those hot cities where Sundays is an official Fun day, so make sure you hit Niki Beach for the ultimate SoBe Sunday Funday, or chill at the Ganssevort pool party.

If you are in the mood for some people watching before hitting the beach, take a stroll around Lincoln Rd. where you’ll find a hand full of restaurants, shops and even, clubs.

Some of my favorite spots to hit are Sushi Samba for lunch (delish sushi). I love to sit out with my best friend and just people watch.  And my ultimate favorite store, is Fly boutique- a vintage store full of hidden treasures, that will have everyone from your home town envying your closet. I’ve found some of my greatest pieces there.

Your Lincoln Rd. attire should be relaxed and beach chic. Since is Miami, you can even walk around wearing your swimwear and pareo or cover up if you need to.  But I prefer to show as little as possible and keep it classy. Best to leave it for the real beach.  Here are some examples of the adequate Lincoln Rd. outfit that will keep you looking haute!

After the beach and shopping, you can opt to go with many restaurants. But I highly recommend Casa Tua or Soho House if you’re looking for the’ tres-chic’ fabulous spot.  Both serve Italian food, but if you’re craving a lighter affair, Nobu never fails.  Make sure to make a reservation, since these are hard tickets in town.

After dinner, head to the Delano or W for some pre cocktails, then make your way to LIV at the Fontainebleau. This place is just unbelievable. One of the most beautiful hotels in the beach.  This one is a must.

And trust me, you’ll want to look your hottest!  Everyone knows, Miami has one of the most strict rules at the door.  Hot= green; Mediocre= Red…  Want to get in like a VIP?  Dress to impress!
