Do you remember those long hour appointments with your career counselor where he or she advised you on the proper interview and corporate attire? Blue, black, long, hair pulled back, don’t wear skirts… Right!  That worked, for the interview part… And, did you ever  sit there while staring at their outfit  thinking: “hmmm… ok, you are wearing an ugly sweater and khakis, but you are giving me advice on what to wear?… I think NOT!”… I’m sure many future graduates have had this thought cross their minds at least once.  I admit, I’m guilty of this sin. So please forgive me, if I bended the rules just a tad!

In most corporate environments, dark colors and ultra conservative attire is preferred. But, I’ve always felt that as a woman, we should be allowed to dare to be a bit more edgy. After all, just because you dare to go a lighter shade, doesn’t mean you are not complying to the corporate world rules. One can look presentable, classy, sophisticated and chic without bending the rules…
